I got a gluten-free tip from a friend recently about the best turkey burger in town at The Barnyard in Totowa, NJ. Last night I decided to check it out.
The burger was, in fact, the best I’ve had. In this town or any other. The menu says that it’s homemade from fresh ground turkey breast. I can completely agree after the taste test that it was true. The turkey meat was fresh, and the burger had a nice char to it and grilled flavor. When I was trying to capture a shot of it, the lighting in the restaurant just didnt’t do it justice, so I tried to add as much contrast as I could without making it look too digitized.
The fries were also very good. I wouldn’t say the best I’ve ever had, but they certainly suited the dish nicely. Anything that serves to scoop up ketchup goes nicely.
The tomato was sliced thinly, as well as the onions, with a nice piece of green leaf lettuce that iI at at the very end like parsley. Because I prefer to follow a gluten-free diet, I had this burger without the english muffin it is traditionally served on.
This dish was truly a great find, and it is nice to see a local restaurant that can fill all seats on a Friday night (I am sure that having a live band helps, but they didn’t start until after we left.)
After the burger, I ordered a rainbow sherbert. They had a very nice dessert menu with professional food photos, but all of the cakes contained gluteny as they had some crust of sorts.
How could I forget the Godiva chocolate martini. When given a Valentine’s Day menu, I couldn’t resist. It was good, and takes a nice enough photo with two straws. It lasted throughout the meal.
